INTERESTING INFORMATION ABOUT TIRE

BACK

Why tires need replacing (at +7°C)

Winter tires are not recommended to be used at temperature above +7°C, and summer tires – at temperature below +7°C as the rubber composition for summer and winter tires differs in formulation suitable for specific temperature conditions. A summer tire stiffens in winter, and a winter tire softens in summer, which adversely affects performance.

Safe operation of tires

Choosing a suitable tire enables to:

Adherence to simple rules when using tires also increases their operational life

It is important to check tire pressure with a precise tire gauge at least once a month and prior to long-distance drives. A proper tire pressure helps optimize tire performance, saves fuel, improves handling and prevents road accidents.

Tires should be balanced when being mounted, as badly balanced wheels may produce vibrations when driving. This may result in early uneven tire wear and undesired damage of your vehicle suspension.

What is a tire wear indicator and where to find it

A tread wear indicator (TWI) is a very important element that helps identify when your tires need changing. Tread wear indicators are located in relation to a TWI sign on the shoulder of the tire.

They indicate that your tire is wearing down and needs replacing (not earlier for economic reasons and not later for safety reasons). Tires should be changed when the tread pattern is worn down to the height of the tread wear indicator (1.6mm).

How to identify the tire manufacture date and wether it matters

Yes, it does. A tire is supposed to preserve its technical specifications for 5 years from the manufacturing date given use and storage requirements are met. Manufacturers all over the world mark the manufacture date on the lateral side of the tire.

Storage

Keep your tires away from direct sunlight, moisture, heating sources, flammable products, strong acids and alkali, etc.

Tires with rims should be stored lying down, and tires not fitted on rims – vertically. This will help them stay in good condition for next seasons.

Even the world's best tire fails to protect you from all surprises of a summer and winter weather. Abiding by driving regulations and having mutual respect for other road users is an essential constituent for the overall road safety!
